6 Makeup Tips to Get Glowing Skin in Winter

6 Makeup Tips to Get Glowing Skin in Winter | DB Cosmetics | 01

Keeping your skin healthy and glowing in winter isn’t an easy task. Your skin may start looking a bit tired and dull, and as your memories of days spent in the summer sun begin to fade, so too does your tan.

As winter starts to roll in, you might want to start introducing some skin-loving makeup into your routine to help you get your naturally glowing skin back!

To help you achieve glowing skin even during cold and rainy winters, we’ve pulled together our top winter makeup tips and favourite makeup products to give you naturally glowing skin.

Tip #1: Don’t skimp on the moisturiser

During the winter months, our skin tends to feel drier than usual. The colder weather, hot showers and indoor heating all pull moisture from your skin, so it’s really important to re-hydrate your skin before applying any makeup.

To rehydrate dry skin, opt for moisturising face makeup like hydrating foundations and makeup primers. Our Skin Quencher Primer and Moisturiser is a super-hydrating 2-in-1 face primer and it’s the perfect product to prepare your skin before you start applying your makeup. Delivering all the benefits of an ultra-hydrating moisturiser, this moisturising primer for dry skin is infused with carefully selected ingredients to give your skin the nourishment it needs to stay healthy and prevent it from drying out. Hyaluronic Acid and Q10 work together to replenish the skin and boost moisture, while Aloe Vera and Green Tea help to soothe and reduce redness, and Vitamins C and E help to brighten your complexion.

Starting your makeup routine with a hydrating face primer will help you lock in hydration all day long and will create a smooth base for your makeup for an even and flawless finish.

Tip #2: Stick to liquid foundation

Keep dull, dry or flaky skin at bay during the colder months by opting for hydrating face makeup, like a foundation that’s full of hydrating ingredients and skincare benefits. Dry powders and heavy foundations can make the skin look cakey and even more dry, so our makeup tip for dry skin is to go for liquid foundations which blend effortlessly into the skin.

Our liquid Skin Renew Ceramide Foundation is made with Ceramides to create a protective barrier for your skin and lock in added moisture. Available in 6 shades, its silky smooth formula offers lightweight, buildable coverage. Vitamin C works to encourage even skin tone while Vitamin A helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to this super hydrating formula, you will be left with a healthy and glowing complexion.

Tip #3: Add some blush for rosy, glowing skin

Time to add some colour to that winter skin! With a touch of blush on the apples of your cheeks, you’ll be able to keep that rosy glowing skin throughout those cold winter months. For a healthy glow that looks super natural, try our Make 'Em Blush Pressed Mineral Blush in the Rose Glow shade.

The mineral pigments in the blush deliver a beautiful blendable colour with a soft, shimmery glow to perk up and brighten your face in winter. You can apply it with our Kabuki Brush to make sure it’s perfectly blended and looks super natural. Or you could even use it as an eyeshadow to add a nice rosy colour to your eyelids!

Tip #4: Try a liquid highlighter

Unleash your golden, glowing goddess within by adding a liquid highlighter to your skincare routine. Again, liquid formulas will make your skin look dewy and naturally glowing.

For a liquid highlighter for glowing skin, try our Liquid Gold Jelly Highlighter with its hydrating and blendable formula infused with Vitamin E, perfect for applying with your finger or a damp beauty sponge for an iridescent glow. The unique formula goes on as a jelly but dries with a powder finish to help you keep your glow all day.

Tip #5: Use a setting spray

Face powders can be a good way to set your makeup in place, but we would recommend staying away from powders during the winter months, as they can make your skin look even more cracked and dry. To set your makeup in place, try a refreshing and hydrating makeup setting spray instead!

Our Mist Me Setting Spray is Infused with Green Tea to invigorate, Rose Flower Oil to soothe tired skin, and Hyaluronic Acid for maximum hydration. This hydrating makeup spray can be worn alone for a healthy glow, or spritzed on top of makeup for an all-day radiant finish!

Tip #6: Go for berry lips

Our lips are always exposed and can easily become dry or cracked when the temperature drops. Choosing a hydrating lipstick can help protect your lips and add a splash of colour to your final look. To avoid cracked lips in winter, opt for hydrating lip makeup like nourishing lip balms or hydrating lipsticks.

Try our new Shine Sheer Lipstick in the beautiful winter berry shade, Date Night. Infused with Hyaluronic Acid for added moisture and hydration, your lips will stay silky smooth with a long-lasting sheer wash of colour. The buildable formula makes this your perfect day-to-night lipstick, simply layer it on to intensify this rich colour. For more insider tips take a look at our 6 Tips for Long-Lasting Lipstick.
